Abstract: 
This interview is part of a series of sixteen interviews between Ed Perzel, former chair of the history department, and Bonnie Ethel Cone, founder of UNC Charlotte. Bonnie Cone discusses her recollections of Charlotte College as it was going through the process of becoming a fully realized university. Cone focuses on the purchase of the land for UNC Charlotte, the alternative sites that were considered, the expansion and accreditation of Charlotte College at Central High School, and the student body during the 1950's. Cone also talks about support from the Charlotte community and notes particular individuals including W.A. (Woody) Kennedy and Thomas Belk.
